Biesiesvlei Police arrested two suspects aged between 32 and 39years for business robbery and theft on Monday, 11 June 2012 at about 8:10 after they allegedly robbed a Chines Shop.
According to the information received the suspects fled the scene with the cash of R129 270.00.
The suspects also took 14 boxes of Stuyvesant cigarettes, air time vouchers, G five cellular phones, cell phone chargers DVD wires and cellphone batteries.
The victim who had a camera installed inside the shop managed to identify the two suspects.
Police went to the scene and the shop owner showed them the footage of the video that is when they recognised the two suspects and went to arrest them.
“There were footprints at the scene of crime and the dog handler was immediately summoned to the scene. One suspect was arrested on Tuesday and was in possession of R69 000-00, two G five cellular phones and airtime vouchers” Captain Tselana Nkala said.
The other suspect fled and was later arrested in Itekeng township in his possession of R26 289-00, two DVD wires, four cellphone batteries and fourteen 20 Stuyvesant.
It is alleged that the suspects broke the window and the burglar to gain entrance. Both suspects appeared before Lichtenburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 14 June 2012.
They were denied bail and they are expected to appear before the same court on Wednesday 20 June 2012.
