Johannesburg – Prosecutors spent more than a year preparing for the trial of a serial child rapist who hanged himself just hours before he was to appear in court on Thursday.

Sifiso Makhubo, 42, who was alleged to have raped 33 children and infected eight of them with HIV, was found dead in his cell by police, eNCA reporter Karyn Maughan said on Thursday.
