Platinum Stars are planning to keep Thuso Phala at the Phokeng-based club, despite the speculation linking the 26-year-old with an exit.

Phala has returned to the club following an impressive campaign with Bafana Bafana during the recent Africa Cup of Nations.  The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns player was linked with a move back to the Amakhosi at some stage, following his rich vein of form.

However, news reaching the Siya crew is that the player is in coach Cavin Johnson’s plans and he sees him as a key player in his side.

“There has been a lot of speculation about Thuso going to Chiefs and stuff like that. Thuso has a contract that is running with Platinum Stars. If you ask me about Thuso and his current situation, I will state it clearly to you that the player has an obligation with Platinum Stars. Thuso is our star from the Afcon and no one gave him a chance,” said a source.

Phala’s contract with Stars ends in June. The Phokeng-based side is set to open talks with the player for a new deal. Recent reports linked the player with an overseas move.
