One of the Taung Comedy Show organisers, Olebogeng Moshwene said, those who say organizing an event in a rural setting can feel like trying to navigate a maze in the dark, clearly have not visited Taung yet.
Moshwene said their first edition of Taung Comedy Show went exceptionally well. He said people in Taung and across the country, came out in numbers to support their event that was held at Longstreet Lifestyle Pub in Taung in 2022.
“Now, we are looking forward to our 2nd edition of Taung Comedy Show, which will be held at Longstreet Lifestyle Pub in Taung on 31 March 2024. One thing that event organisers should take into consideration is to define the target audience.
“Knowing your target audience is essential in planning a successful event. Consider factors such as age range, profession, interests, and location when defining your audience. This will help in ensuring that your event is tailored to their needs and interests,” said Moshwene.
He further said as the Shandis Events Crew, they have done their homework and realized that the comedy market is not yet established in Taung, but only in bigger cities. Moshwene added that they decided to tap into that market because it has potential.
“As Shandis Events Crew, we also wanted to diversify our portfolio in event organizing. The aim was also to place Taung in the map in terms of creating more activities that could appease our people.
“We are grateful that our gamble paid dividends. The revellers were happy with our inaugural show. Now, we are carefully planning and nurturing the 2nd edition. Our aim is to ensure that it blooms into a stunning display that leaves a lasting impression on attendees,” he said.
Moshwene said they want to see more revellers flocking to the event on 31 March 2024. He said in all their events, local businesses are always at the centre stage.
“Events like this continue to boost the economy of Taung. In most cases, our patrons book various guesthouses for accommodation and the influx of people from outside Taung, also boosts tourism aspects of our area.
“The gates will be opened from 12pm until 2am. Tickets can be purchased from Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers nationwide. General tickets will only cost you R250, while R300 at the gate. VIP tickets will cost only R600, but R700 at the gate,” said Moshwene.
