N West woman shot while having braai

A woman is recovering in hospital after she was shot. The police said four suspects pounced on family members who were preparing for a braai in Buffelsfonteing, near Brits recently.

North West police spokesperson, Sergeant Kealeboga Molale said the police are investigating a case of house robbery.

 

“The victim and her family were preparing for a braai when they were attacked by a group of four men. The men apparently jumped over precast wall to gain entrance in the yard. The suspects shot the victim once on the hip and robbed the other people of their personal valuables including cell phones. They then drove-off in the family’s Toyota Hilux which was parked in the yard,” Molale said.

 

The victim was rushed to the nearby hospital with a single gunshot wound where she is currently receiving medical attention.  Molale said the car was found abandoned about 500m from the scene and no arrests have been made yet.

A 75 year-old woman arrested in Tauñg

A 75-year-old elderly woman was arrested in Mokgareng village, Taung on Saturday. According to information,  police received a tip-off one of the member s of the community that there is a bag of dagga in her house.

North West police spokesperson, sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said police acted swiftly and allegedly found bag of dagga in the house.

“A 75 year-old woman was arrested and will appear at Taung Magistrate’s Court on Monday for being in possession of dagga. She was subsequently arrested and police investigations continue,” she said.

A child died after drowning in Vryburg

A 18 month-old baby allegedly drowned in Huhudi township, near Vryburg on Friday.

According to North West police, a grandmother of the deceased was doing laundry at her house and the baby was playing in the yard with other children.

North West police spokesperson, sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said, a case of inquest has been opened and investigation is underway.

“Police are investigating a case of inquest after an 18-month-old baby died. It is alleged that the baby fell into a bath and was found few minutes after drowning.

“The grandmother to the child was doing laundry at her house while the kid was playing around with others. The kid allegedly fell into the washing basin without anyone noticing and police are investigating a case of inquest,” she said.

‘Four nabbed over dagga in North West’

Mmabatho police arrested four suspects between the ages of 36 and 40 for being in possession of dagga in Lokaleng village, near Mmabatho. North West police spokesperson, sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the incident took place after the police received a tip-off that there was dagga at a certain house in the village.

 

“Police responded promptly to the information and went to the place. Upon arrival, they found four suspects and searched their house.  They found 163 kg of dagga hidden inside one of the rooms with the estimated value of R400 000,” Moleko said.

 

All four suspects are expected to appear in Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Three murder cases postponed in North West

Three murder accused were remanded in custody upon appearance in various courts on Tuesday, says North West police. A 30-year-old man from Madibogo-pan was apprehended for the alleged murder of an 18-year-old victim in Madibogo-pan on Sunday at about 23:00.

North West police spokesperson, col Sabata Mokgwabone said it is alleged that the victim was with his friends at the local tavern when the accused (Adam Phoi) entered the tavern and drew a knife. “The accused allegedly started stabbing people randomly inside the tavern and three people were seriously stabbed while one was transported to hospital where he died upon arrival,” Mokgwabone said.

He said Phoi appeared in Atamelang Magistrates’ Court and his case was postponed until 17 August 2015 for a legal representation.

Still in Madibogo, Edward Setsetse, 39, appeared in Atamelang Magistrates’ Court for allegedly killing a 43-year-old victim in Lenganeng section in Madibogo. The accused was remanded in custody until Monday, 17 August 2015 for a legal representation.

Mokgwabone said according to information at their disposal, the accused and the victim were at the local tavern when a quarrel ensued between them. “It is alleged that the accused drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest. He was transported to the local hospital, but was certified dead on arrival. The incident took place on Sunday,” he said.

In Brits, a 19-year-old accused, Thabiso Pailo appeared in Brits Magistrates’ Court for the alleged murder of a 19-year-old victim.  The incident took place in Phase 1 Oukasie, Brits at about 15:50 on Friday. The case was postponed until Thursday, 13 August 2015 for a formal bail application. 

North West police said the victim was allegedly on his way home when he had an argument with the suspect.  Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife in his chest and was also certified dead on arrival at the hospital. The suspect was arrested on the scene after police reacted swiftly to the incident.

Three nabbed after rape and house robbery in Vryburg

VRYBURG police are looking for three of five men who are suspected to be behind House Robbery and the Rape of a 36-year-old woman in the early hours of Thursday at Monotomosetlha Village in Huhudi.

North West police spokesperson sergeant Kealeboga Molale said it is reported that the victim was sleeping with her husband and they were woken up by sound of people talking outside.

They called the husband by name and he went to open the door.

“The suspects told him they were looking for a Plasma television. The man told the suspects he does not have the plasma they are looking for.  While the victim was being interrogated by one suspect the other four went into the house and took turns in raping his wife,” Molale said.

She said the suspects fled the scene on foot. “The two suspects were arrested on Friday and police are still searching for the other three.”
