With a tyre around his neck and a placard that read “11 killed, who cares” Nkwame Cedile has taken his hunger strike against necklacing and vigilante killings to the office of Premier Helen Zille – literally.

The activist from Harare, Khayelitsha, went on a hunger strike three weeks ago to draw attention to acts of vigilante violence in the area.
