A man arrested for rape, robbery and murder

A suspect (38) was arrested for rape, murder and robbery in Wolmaranstad. It is alleged that on 15 June 2024 at 7pm, the body of a woman (74), was discovered by her son, who brought her dinner. 

The North West police spokesperson, Col Adele Myburgh said the son and neighbours allegedly forced entry into Akina Mhaba’s house in Chris Hani Section, in Wolmaranstad. Myburgh said Mhaba was found dead in a pool of blood on her bed. 

“A meticulous investigation by the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit paid off when they traced and arrested a suspect in the early hours of Friday morning, 28 June 2024, in Wolmaranstad.  

“Intensive investigation led to the arrest of the suspect. Moreover, the police seized blankets belonging to the deceased at the suspect’s house. The suspect is expected to appear before the Wolmaranstad Magistrate’s Court on 1 July 2024, on charges of murder, rape and robbery,” she said.

Meanwhile, the North West Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, welcomed the arrest and congratulated members of the Provincial Murder and Robbery unit for their dedication that led to the arrest.
