MOTHIBISTAD- A 33-year-old employee at a Tuck-Shop in Mokalamosesane village, in Mothibistad was about to close the Tuck Shop when four men entered inside.
The suspects allegedly threatened the employee with firearms and demanded money from the him.
Northern Cape police said the suspects managed to get away with a substantial amount of cash, airtime vouchers, as well as cigarettes.
Lieutenant Donald Mdlhuli said one of the suspects was chased and later apprehended by the community.
He was handed over to the police who arrested him.
“Police in Mothibistad worked tirelessly to ensure that the outstanding three suspects are arrested. Information was received by police on the whereabouts of the suspects. Two suspects were arrested yesterday night by police and the last suspect was arrested on Sunday,” Mdhluli said.
He said a firearm-magazine, ammunition, cigarettes and some of the cash suspected to have been stolen during the robbery were seized from the suspects.
The suspects are aged between 18 and 20.
“The police would like to thank the community for their co-operation through their efforts that has resulted in the arrest of the four suspects. Members of the Mothibistad police are also appreciated for their hard-work and efforts in ensuring that all suspects are brought to book,” he said.
The four will appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court on Monday and they face a charge of business robbery and possession of ammunition.
