29 November 2025- The Moretele Local Municipality said 1 December has been declared by the National Department of Health as World Aids Day. The municipality said many households continue to experience food insecurity with some community members going to bed on an empty stomach.
Moretele Local Municipality mayor, Masango George Manyike said they have partnered with the Gift of the Givers Foundation on various humanitarian initiatives, disaster relief efforts and community development projects. Manyike said the Foundation remains highly regarded for its swift and impactful response during crises.
“Earlier this year, the municipality was affected by heavy rains that resulted in widespread flooding. As always, Gift of the Givers responded promptly by donating thousands of food parcels and detergents to the communities of Carousel View , Mmotla, Moeka, Mathibestad, Makapanstad and Tlholoe.
“The municipality and the Gift of the Givers will donate 200 food parcels consisting of maize meal, spice packs and detergent packs to the needy and child-headed household. The local clinic will also receive 50 packs of nappies, detergents, wheelchairs and breakfast packs,” he said.
Meanwhile, the event will take place at Ruigtesloot Clinic at 10am.
