The Department of Mineral Resources will launch the Manthe Primary School in Taung, North West as part of Anglo American Platinum’s Social and Labour Plan (SLP) commitment on Tuesday.
A SLP is a pre-requisite for the granting of mining or production rights under the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA).
The Act is amongst other legislation to transform the mining and production industries.
Following extensive consultations and needs analysis by Anglo American Platinum with the Department of Education, the Ba-ga Maidi Traditional Council was approached and the proposed project was well received. A dilapidated primary school was then demolished and the new Manthe Primary School was rebuilt to benefit the Batlhaping Ba-ga Maidi Community.
The handover of the school to the learners and the community will take place as follows.
Date : 22 September 2015
Venue : Manthe Primary School
Batlhaping Ba GaMaidi Community,
Taung Magisterial District, North West
Time : 10:00
