A man (26) was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping his neighbour. The Northern Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Col Sergio Kock said on 30 December 2021 at around 9pm, the woman (21) went to sleep in her home in Homelite, Kimberley, but she woke up the next morning and discovered her neighbour, who was naked in her bed.
“The suspect was subsequently arrested. He was found guilty and sentenced in the Kimberley Regional Court to 10 years direct imprisonment for rape and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
“Detective Warrant Officer Conrad de Jongh of the Galeshewe SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit conducted the investigation that led to the outstanding sentence of the Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBV&F) perpetrator,” he said.
