Klerksdorp-Beleaguered ANC leader in the North West is expected to make his court appearance today. China Dodovu, who was suspended as the North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, is facing charges of conspiracy to murder.
Three months ago he and other six accused briefly appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates Court on charges of premeditated murder and two charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
Dodovu and his co-accused are on bail the matter was postponed by the court.
The other accused are Jeffrey Letuka (28), North West provincial ANC Youth League chairman Papiki Baboile (27), ward secretary Paul Molomonyane (33), Councillor Itumeleng Molebatsi (50), municipal worker William Malefo (46) and taxi driver Kgotso Kali (36).
The group was arrested in connection with last year’s murder of David Oubuti Chika, a regional secretary of the ANC in the KK Kaunda region.
Chika was shot at point-blank range in the driveway of his home in Alabama, Klerksdorp, just two days before the ANC’s national conference in Mangaung in December last year.
Following the group’s arrest, the ANC in the North West, said the party will allow the law to take its course.
