Four stock-theft suspects were remanded in custody amid bail application after being arrested for stock-theft in Mokgareng village, near Taung on Tuesday.
Boitshoko Ephraim Mogapi(19), Philisile Funani(21), Mogomotsi Bookie Molaowa(21) and Tshepang Matthews Seitshiro(19) where arrested by community members after they were allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen livestock.
Police preliminary investigations show that, 13 cows that were in possession of this four boys were stolen from Manthe village, Mabereng village in Tlapeng, and others from Mokgareng village.
Community members called police and the suspects were arrested and charged with stock-theft.
Anti-crime organisation, Kgomo Modimo Wa Gae representative Tom Monnahela said they applaud community members who reacted swiftly in arresting the suspects.
“We would like to advice live-stock owners to be careful regarding their livestock because criminals are making meal out of them. They need to tattoo their stock so that can be easy for police to identify them,” he said.
Four suspects will be back in court on 01 June 2015 for bail application.
