Taung- Festive season is creeping in and just around the corner. South Africans known as one of partying nations in the world,so get ready and grab those dancing shoes and hit the dancefloor.

Then the would not be a better time than this to bring you young,gifted and aspiring Dj.

Born and bred at Itireleng village in Taung, Dj Thethi started to get behind the decks two years ago and not aiming to stop.

A 20 year-old Dj worked with different artists in the area and adamant that come five years,he’ll be one of the finest Dj our country has ever produced.

“I started DJing back in 2010 and worked with very fascinating people. The likes of Kgatliso Ramose,Tseke,Trust,Fab D and Wise” He asserted.

Even though Thethi Kula do not have any formal qualifications when coming to DJing, he says he can hold his own against all odds.

“I do not have a ny formal qualifications regarding DJing, but that does not demoralised me. I am very passionate about music, so that positivity kept be afloated” Dj Thethi said.

“I am inspired by one of the best Djs in the world, Lucas Raito. And I will be very grateful if I can get that opportunity to work with Dj Notorious(Vaaltar Fm) in the future” He yelled.

The sassy Dj also took this time to wish well for those who are writing matrics final year.

“Education is a key to success, even though music is a powerful tool to unite people education still tops. So to all aspiring kids who will like to become Djs, get education first and make a better of it” Kula said.

“Also to all parents, please be supportive to those who are writing their exams as this is a very crucial moment in their lives. If you do not manage to pass do not feel despondent or wincing as failing does not regard you as a failure” Thethi yelled.

The young Dj said he will further his studies next year at D.O.D Records to get more skills and knowledge.

Also called DJ or deejay, these are people who play music for the enjoyment of the listening public.

What does a disc jockey do?:

The role of the disc jockey is to play music geared towards a specific audience; whether it be for those who love classical music, pop, rnb, country, folk, rock, disco, etc. DJ’s also choose songs that will fit a certain occasion; whether it be for a wedding, birthday, award ceremony and other social gatherings.

Where do disc jockey’s work?:

DJ’s work in radio stations where they are expected to create a daily play list. Aside from spinning records, they may also add segments to the program where they interact with listeners.

They also play music at local functions such as parties and parades; some even get the chance to go on tour with famous artists. DJ’s who perform at local venues are expected to have their own equipment such as turntables, mixers and of course, a stack of records and cd’s.

What other pointers should a disc jockey keep in mind?:

Many DJ’s who’ve become successful did so through word of mouth. If you act professionally, perform your job accordingly nothing will stop you.
