Johannesburg- South African Football Association (SAFA) acting President, Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana had lauded the performance of Bafana Bafana against five-time FIFA World Cup champions, Brazil as a turning point for the Senior National Team.

Bafana lost 1-0 to the Samba Boys and with a bit of luck could have easily come away with a positive result. The visitors were not fazed by the intimidating atmosphere and put up a gallant fight that earned them the respect of the Brazilian fans.

“Our boys did the nation proud. That was a gutsy performance,” said SAFA acting President Chief Nonkonyana.

The acting SAFA President said the decision to appoint Gordon Igesund as the new National Team coach was a master-stroke. He said at this rate, Bafana might go all the way in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which South Africa hosts in January.

“You can already see the buzz and confidence of the boys on the ball and their general attitude is that of players who want to die for the nation. If we give Gordon all the support, I can tell you, we are headed for the bright future,” added Nonkonyana who is also AFCON 2013 Chair.
