Bafana coach eyeing ACN qualifiers

Sydney- While many wrote his obituary,Bafana Bafana head coach set sight on African Cup of Nation qualifying games now. This came after Bafana played one all draw to Australia.

“I now hope to take this momentum to New Zealand and if they produce the same form we will enter the African Cup of Nation qualifier on a high. I have a massive belief in this squad. The players have the right attitude, are talented and they know what they want” he said at the post match interview.

Igesund said the secret behind the team’s performance was hard work.

“They are prepared to die for one another and are prepared to run their socks out. Once you have positive team, half the job is done” he added.

Ayanda Patosi who scored the only goal for Bafana echo the same sentiment.

“This was not about me. It was a team work and we need to build from this encounter. I have always said there is a massive talent in the country. No one is guranteed a place in the team. Any person selected should play his part” said Patosi.

Gordon Igesund is the first Bafana Bafana coach to be given the mandate contract and he failed to reach it. The last straw came when he failed to make it to the final of CHAN which was held in the country earlier this year.

Going to this tour was not easy for Igesund as many “key players” pulled out of the squad on the 11th hour siting injuries and exhaustion.

He was forced to take the squad which many calls it Plan C.
