Taung-Most voters flock in indefinite quantity in various voting stations around Taung with only less than three hours to go before the closing.
Early during the day our crew visited a voting station at Roman Catholic church in Taung Extension and the voting was running smoothly despite the minor incident where ANC party officials arrived with their table and ANC branded T-shirts to canvass for more votes, however the IEC presiding officer Jaqualine Mogokotleng dealt with them swiftly.
“The elections are running swiftly and we expecting more voters as the day goes by. More than 1300 voters are expected and we are definitely sure that they will arrive in numbers” Mokgokotleng said.
The ANC party agents were not boorish and just left as ordered.
Some of voters withstood the chill weather in the morning to go and vociferate their democratic right.
Tlapeng village, near Taung elections were running as expected and even Maphoitsile residents who threatened to boycott the vote, also came out in numbers.
Even though some voters were vituperated, however they went onto to let their voices heard.
Some of the ‘Born-frees’ came out in numbers at Taung Extension as more than 300 first-time voters were excited and wondorously voted.
The elections are running smoothly and even in Bloemhof which was one of hotspot areas in North West, its residents came out to vote and overcame their phobia.-TDN
