Zimbabwean politician and his uncle nabbed for possession of explosives

11 November 2025- A Zimbabwean politician, Job Sikhala (53) and his uncle, Alexander Ferrowst Thema (78), briefly appeared at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. They are facing charges of possession of explosives. 

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson in Gauteng, Lumka Mahanjana said it is alleged that on 6 November 2025, the two accused were stopped by police while driving along Kgosi Mampuru Street. Mahanjana said when the police searched for their vehicle, they found 26 units of blasting cartridges and 15 units of connector cap fusers. 

“In court, the matter was postponed to 13 November 2025, for a formal bail application. The two are remanded in custody,” she said.
