TAUNG- A 29 year-old man is expected to appear at Taung Magistrate Court on Monday for murder after he hanged his 5 year-old son.

Boitumelo Seoposengwe,29, was subsequently arrested three weeks ago at his home in Maphoitshile village, near Taung after being involved in an argument with his girlfriend.

According to information the couple were engaged in a fierce argument and later on, Boitumelo asked his child Remoratile Sehemo to visit him.

North West police spokesperson colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspect was arrested after he handed himself over to the police.

“Boitumelo allegedly entered his bedroom and hanged the boy from the roof rafters. The atrocity was seen by one of family members and informed the other members. The suspect fled the scene afterwards, but returned at the later stage where he was arrested” Mokgwabone said.

The suspect appeared before court last week Monday, but his case was postponed until Monday for formal bail application.

Seoposengwe opted to be represented by legal aid attorney and the case will resume today.

Amajimbos share spoils with Junior Chipolopolo

Bafanaa.jpg

Johannesburg- The South African Men’s Under-17 team, Amajimbos played to a 1-1 draw against the Junior Chipolopolo at the Nkoloma Stadium, Lusaka Zambia.

The Zambians put South Africa under a lot of pressure in the first 20 minutes but failed to find the back of the net.

Amajimbos opened the scoring with a beautiful header from Liam Jordan following a well-taken a corner kick. The South Africans kept the Zambians on the back foot with speedy runs from the midfield. Eventually found themselves vulnerable at the back allowing the Zambians an opportunity to equalize with a long range shot from Patson Daka.

In the second half the Junior Chipolopolo pressed hard on the South Africans but yet again their finishing disappointed. The match ended level and Amajimbos coach Molefi Ntseki said he was happy with the output on the day.

“We are on track with our preparations for Niger,” said Ntseki. “We only had 14 players to choose from today as many are nursing minor injuries, and I am impressed with the boys’ performance. Yes there is still a long way to go before they boys understand what I want from them, but today was very encouraging.”

Ntseki added; “We are very glad that Zambia agreed to play us today, for many of the boys they have now seen what will be expected of them at the CAF 2015 African Youth Championships, and as small as they are we have a way of dealing with the physical aspect of the opponent like we did today.”

Amajimbos will return to South Africa on Sunday afternoon to continue their preparations for the 2015 AYC. Then they will travel to Abuja, Nigeria for a friendly next Saturday 17 January 2015.

EFF threatens to disrupt SONA

malema.jpg

Johannesburg – EFF leader Julius Malema has warned that his party will disrupt President Jacob Zuma’s State of the Nation address, if the leader does not appear before Parliament for a question and answer session, the City Press reported on Sunday.

Malema sent a two-page letter to Parliamentary Speaker Baleka Mbete requesting that a special sitting of the National Assembly be held before the opening of Parliament on February 12.

Malema wanted Zuma to conclude a previous question and answer session that was aborted five months ago following disruptions.

“Please note that failure to accomodate our request will give us no other option but to insist that President Jacob Zuma answer the questions (during) the state of the nation address,” said Malema in the statement.

On August 21 last year, pandemonium broke out when EFF MPs banged on their desks and chanted “Pay Back the Money”, Ä in relation to the Nkandla controversy – disrupting Zuma’s replies to questions.

At the time, many opposition parties expressed disatisfaction with how Zuma had answered questions related to the R246 million spent on security upgrades to his private Nkandla residence in KwaZulu-Natal.

In December, the High Court in Cape Town, however, lifted sanctions against 20 suspended EFF MPs that had been imposed following the incident.

Mbete’s spokeswoman Mandlakazi Sicgawu confirmed to the newspaper that the letter had been received and said it was receiving attention.
