Klipgat- A 5 year-old died instantly after hit by a car while crossing the road.
Ntadynkosi Mahlangu,5 was hit by an oncoming car at Klipgat while
trying to cross the road.
It is alleged that the driver was trying to overtake a bus that was
parked at the side of the road and hit young Mahlangu.
“The case of culpable homicide was opened after a driver hit and
killed Mahlangu in Klipgat who was trying to cross the road. The
driver alleges that he was trying to overtake a bus that was parked
next to the road and did not see Mahlangu” said Brigadier Thulani
Ngubane.
The case of cupable homicide was opened and a 38 year-old driver has
not been charged yet.

London, England – Caster Semenya says the gender testing debacle that dogged her early international career has made her stronger for challenges such as the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Semenya was speaking ahead of the opening ceremony where she will lead out the South African team as the flag bearer.

“I am not going to worry about these gender things, I’m just going to concentrate on my future and look forward,” Semenya said.

She added that it was a great privilege to carry the South African flag, an honour she did not expect to befall upon her.

“It is quite exciting and, for me, when I look back at my career, I didn’t think I was going to make it to the Olympics,” she said

The National Prosecuting Authority has fabricated charges against suspended prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach, her lawyer said on Friday.

“They are trumped up charges designed to get rid of Glynnis Breytenbach,” Wim Trengove said at her disciplinary hearing in Pretoria.

He was referring in particular to two charges relating to Breytenbach doing work outside the NPA; she allegedly rented out a flat and ran a horse stabling business.

Trengove was cross-examining Hercules Wasserman, acting senior manager of the NPA’s integrity management unit, at the authority’s offices in Silverton.

Trengove pointed out that renting out a flat did not amount to performing remunerative work.

Breytenbach had stabled a horse for a friend’s child which had cost her R2 500 a month, although the friend could only contribute R1000 towards this, he said.

Wasserman said he was not aware of this.

Durban – The 94-year-old great-grandmother who was raped, allegedly by a released convict, has told of her ordeal and why she will never forgive the man who showed her no mercy.

“He had no compassion. I cried, begging him to stop, asking him why he was killing me, but he just put his hand over my mouth,” the New Hanover grandmother said on Thursday from a relative’s house, where she was recuperating from Monday’s attack, which has sent shock waves across the country.

Nibbling on a packet of chips, the woman spoke of how she tried to fend off her attacker, who had broken into her mud-plastered home in KwaSwayimane on Monday night.

“I nearly died; I was short of breath and when he had finished what he had been doing I felt like I was drawing my last breath as he walked out,” she said, shaking her head.

Axed ANC Youth League head Julius Malema has lambasted President Jacob Zuma, The Times reported on Friday.

The paper said Malema was scheduled to deliver a public lecture at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology on former president Nelson Mandela on Thursday, but instead used the podium to criticise Zuma.

Malema labelled Zuma a “questionable leader”, saying he was a laughing stock internationally who got married every December and used his culture to promote his multiple marriages.

“Zuma is a polygamist (who) undermined the rights of women,” Malema was quoted as saying.

He also accused Zuma of avoiding the opportunity to answer to charges of corruption for which his former financial adviser, Schabir Schaik, was jailed.

The charges against Zuma were dropped.

Malema praised the leadership skills of Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.

“(He) takes the office of the (deputy) president very seriously.”
