Jouberton-Police are investigating an armed robbery after a man was robbed at gunpoint.

The gruesome event took place on Friday at around 10:30am in Jouberton township where a 30 year man was robbed.

“A 30 year-old man was with his friend when they allegedly went to collect the money for duvets they sold to a customer. One person entered the house and the other one remained outside in their car” Aafje Botma said.

Police said a victim was allegedly approched by five suspects who pointed him with a firearm.

The robbed him cash, bedding and other documents police said.

No one has been arrested and police investigations continue.

Coligny-A 69 year-old man robbed at gunpoint in Coligny by unknown suspects.

Police said a man was allegedly in the bathroom in his house when four suspects muffled in his house” captain Aafje Botma said.

Four suspects allegedly pointed a gun,screwdriver an threatened a man with a crowbar before they robbed him cash, jewellery and fled the scene on foot.

A 69 year-old man reported the case to police and a house robbery case was opened.

Four men are still at large and police investigations continue.

Setlagole-North West police are investigating an inquest case after a man found hanging froma a tree at Monen’s farm in Setlagole.

“On Thursday at 14:00, the body of a 33-year-old man was found hanging from a tree at Monen’s farm,near Setlagole” captain Aafje Botma said. 

Police said the victim was allegedly mentally ill.

“A man went missing two weeks ago” Botma said.  

A Inquest case is being investigating by the Police.

Mmabatho- A 25-year-old accused was sentenced to eight years imprisonment on 17 April 2013 by Mmabatho Regional Court for rape. 

“On 15 January 2013 the victim was asleep at her residential place at Magogoe Village when the door was allegedly forcefully opened” captain Aafje Botma said.

“The suspect entered the room of a victim and forced himself on a victim after threatening her. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm” Botma said.

Taung-North West police are investigating a case of inquest after two boys drown at Mirriam Roberts Dam in Pudumoe, near Taung.

According police, the incident took place on Friday at around 12:00 midday.

“Two brothers and their friend were playing at the open field next to maize meal farm. They chased birds until they reach Mirriam Roberts Dam” captain Aafje Botma.

Police said the boys continue throwing stones at the birds by the river when a 10 year-old boy slipped.

“His older brother who was 12 year-old tried rescue him, but unfortunately they both drown” police said.

Police Divers were called after their friend went to inform the elders about the gruesome event.

“Their bodies were retrieved and declared dead. Police investigation continues” Botma said.

Lehurutshe-North West police confirmed that two suspects who were arrested,Tumiso Godfrey Mooki (23) and Lebogang Mashinini (31) was sentenced to 10 and 18 years imprisonment respectively for a business robbery at Go-Nkwe Section, Gopane Village. 

“The two accused entered Kgakatsi Tuckshop in Gopane Village, through the roof on 8 November 2012, and found the owner of the shop asleep” Aafje Botma said.  

Police said they assaulted and stabbed the 46-year-old victim in the chest and took his cellphone,amount of cash as well as groceries and fled the scene.  The police acted on information and arrested the two suspects.

Lehurutshe-A man was given 18 years imprisonment by Lehurutshe Magistrate court after he was charged for attempted murder.

Itumeleng Kennedy Thibudi,22 from gopane village near Lehurutshe was arrested back then by Lehurutshe police after he stabbed Richard Mothei,28 five times.

“A man was subsequently arrested in 2010 after he had an argument with Mothei” captain Aafje Botma said.

Police said after the argument between the two, Mothei left for wedding.

“According to reports,Thibudi followed Mothei to a wedding and bludgeoned him” police said.

Richard Mothei was rushed to Mahikeng Provincial Hospital for medical attention.

A Gopane village-born man appeared briefly before Lehurustshe Magistrate court on 26 March 2013 and was sanctioned to 18 years in jail for attempted murder.

Ajax Cape Town’s relegation battle took a severe knock as they were defeated 2-0 by Wits at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday evening.

Ryan Chapman and Asive Langwe scored for the Clever Boys, while Thulani Hlatshwayo was sent off for the home side.

There was an early chance for the Urban Warriors on six minutes when Grandwald Scott forced Emile Baron into a sharp save.

The Students, however, hit back with a chance of their own as Faty Papy came close with his free-kick which forced a diving stop from veteran goalkeeper Sander Westerveld. Papy was again close on the half-hour, but this time his effort drifted past the post.

Eight minutes into the second half The Clever Boys got the better of their opposition when Chapman stroked home Sandile Sibande’s pass.

The Urban Warriors hit back almost immediately when Abia Nale came desperately close with his shot from the edge of the area, but it drifted just wide.

Result: Orlando Pirates 3-1 TP Mazembe

Orlando Pirates claimed a hard-fought 3-1 win over TP Mazembe in their CAF Champions League clash at the Orlando Stadium.

Pirates took the lead just two minutes into the match when Collins Mbesuma teed the ball up for Onyekachi Okonkwo who expertly curled the ball into the top corner.

Six minutes later it should have been goal number two when Mbesuma was one-on-one with the keeper, but smashed it straight at Robert Kidiaba who parried it out.

The best chances were all coming the way of Pirates in the opening half and just before the half-hour Tlou Segolela had a great chance as he broke free of the defence, but his final shot was tamely driven into the hands of Kidiaba.

Another great chance went begging for Pirates when Kidiaba spilled Segolela’s shot, but Ayanda Gcaba failed to make the most of the rebound and blasted it back into the arms of the keeper.

A minute before half-time, the visitors made it 1-1 when the Pirates defence was caught napping, allowing Patou Kabangu a simple tap in from close range.

The lead was almost restored seconds later when Rudolf Bester pulled the trigger from range, but it zipped just past the post.

Pirates were back in front ten minutes into the second half when Mbesuma stroked home Khetokwakhe Masuku’s cross to make it 2-1. Mbesuma could have had a second goal on the hour, but his left-footed effort was kept out by Kidiaba.

In the final minute Pirates were handed a penalty when Kidiaba brought down Mbesuma in the area and the striker made no mistake in slotting home the spot-kick.

Result: Moroka Swallows 1-3 Kaizer Chiefs

Referee: Buyile Gqubule Kaizer Chiefs extended their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership table as they came from behind to beat Moroka Swallows 3-1 at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Giorgi Nergadze opened for The Dube Birds, but a Bernard Parker brace coupled with a George Lebese goal took The Glamour Boys  up to 55 points – six ahead of second-placed Platinum Stars who were held by Chippa United earlier in the day.

There was a massive chance on five minutes for Swallows when Siyabonga Nomvete was given acres of space on the left and the striker unleashed a furious shot which had the better of Itumeleng Khune, but saw it come crashing back off the crossbar.

At the other end Swallows’ defence was caught napping and it took a save from Greg Etafia to deny Lebese from giving The Amakhosi the lead.

The deadlock was eventually broken on 20 minutes when Nergadze was afforded a free header and nodded it past a hapless Khune.

It went from bad to worse for Chiefs momentarily as Khune brought down Lerato Chabangu on the edge of the area and the referee pointed to the spot. It was a perfect finish by Katlego Mashego upon first ask, but he was forced to retake the spot-kick due to players encroaching in the area. It was the same result second time around, and upon third asking Mashego was denied by Khune. 

At the other end Chiefs then brought themselves back level when Parker smashed it home from an acute angle following a cheeky back heel pass from Kingston Nkhatha.

Nine minutes into the second period Chiefs made it 2-1 when Parker slipped the ball into the corner following a brilliant cross from Willard Katsande.

With 19 minutes to play, the result was set when Lebese rounded off a brilliant Chiefs move and slotted the ball past an onrushing Etafia.

It was nearly four in the 90th minute when Parker came close to securing a hat-trick, but it wasn’t to be Etafia pulled off the save.
