Bokone Bophirima Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo joined St John’s Church in Prayer, Culture and Centenary Celebration
Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo has this morning visited St John’s Church Service in Motlolle, to join the church in prayer and celebration of its centenary celebration.
Hundred years on, the vision of the Church’s founder Mme Christinah Nku was celebrated in prayer and cultural day celebration as a fitting tribute and remembrance of close ties between the church and the community.
Premier Mahumapelo is humbled by the opportunity to be part of this auspicious event. The history of this church over the last hundred years, its humble beginnings and its ability to remain rooted amongst the people is a shining example to government and its leadership on service to the people.
Premier joined in prayer to God to bless the church and its leadership to continue fulfilling the vision and prophesy of Mme Christina Nku to live on many more years to come.

The DA on Sunday claimed evidence that SABC chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng bribed a former human resources officer strengthened its case against him.
“The evidence is mounting that Hlaudi Motsoeneng abused his power at the SABC even beyond what the public protector originally found,” Democratic Alliance MP Gavin Davis said in a statement.
“This highlights one of the pitfalls of a legal strategy to delay justice for as long as possible.”

Ntanga, may I speak to you on a subject that is close to my heart: manhood, its responsibility and woman abuse.
I am raising two daughters, one 20, one 14, and their 20-year-old brother. The girls are gorgeous, innocent, biologically not mine, but they are since their father is no more. My mother taught me it takes a village to raise a child. We share a small pondoiki in the middle of a mega township that suffers from a host of social ills like alcohol and substance abuse, rape, house robberies, etc.
The 14-year-old girl is a terrific cook that meticulously prepares a table for the entire family. She smiles lovingly as she orders me to table. She nods approvingly when my plate is adorned with colour from all she has prepared. All this time, she is fully clothed, respectable, and very womanly, just like her mother, my sister-in-law. Looking at her growing up into a woman is a humbling and fulfilling journey that challenges me to always consider my conduct around her. I am careful with words and the tone of my voice.
Bro Kenny, I respect her and will do anything to help prepare her in case some suitor walks her down the aisle on their special day. I also know she might not take that route, but I will pride myself on not producing someone’s daughter-in-law-from-hell in case she does!
Mfowethu, because she is literate, she reads about us – South African men, you included. She recites headlines, shares opinions and engages on matters that affect her innocence as a young girl, as a woman, a South African woman. She aspires to be a human rights lawyer who will focus on the rights of women, given the manner in which her own are demeaned, disrespected, used, violated, exploited, raped and reduced to objects of amusement, as is the case with some escapades at Taboo.
Just last weekend, she asked me: “Dad, will my food taste better if I were to lie down naked with gravy streaming down my forbidden island and dessert smothered all over my mammaries?”
I almost had a heart attack! When I asked why, she answered: “I notice Ntate Kenny Kunene enjoys his like that. It seems he is not the only one, considering that he is forever surrounded by other men. It looks like eating from designer China plates has become old-fashioned. I think I will serve your meal like that next time”. As she giggled away, my stomach revolted, my knees weakened, my blood pressure shot up. I remember waking up gravely ill.
You see, it dawned on me that your sushi escapades and publicity around them speak about us (men) to young minds whose reception is at a curiously high level. My girl is convinced that men have uncovered the secret to a happy meal: a naked woman. My son named the dish “the Kenny Kunene sea fetish, stylishly served on live punani plates”.
Eish, Morena, does it ever occur to you that you are part of a village that should essentially help to raise children into respectable, influential and powerful members of our community? Do you have a daughter, a grandmother, a mother, sisters, aunts, nieces? Would it sit comfortably with you if any of them were to serve men the Kenny Kunene way and get paid doing it?
Could it be that your shaven, naked plates are poor, vulnerable and cannot resist the lure of your deep pockets for survival? Could it be that you are subtly saying that women can be demeaned, reduced to objects that are prone to succumb to male patriarchy and domination? Could you be teaching our boy children that money is king and it can get them anything they want ?
What happened to your desire to ascend to the highest political office ? What would your message have been to the departments of social development, health and education on issues affecting girls and women ? What would your economic policies have been on gender issues, recreation, arts and culture?
Eish, I am worried, Bro Kenny, and I hope you help my daughter see herself as a woman of substance and destiny and not one that can just shave, lie down, get licked and get paid! I’m worried that my son may not grow to understand that he can use his millions to change lives and influence society in a way that is empowering and developmental.
Bro Kenny, can you find a place in your heart to consider a village of men that may join heart, mind and soul to raise self-respecting and empowered boys and girls for the sake of a country and society that is weeping for a resurrection of moral values, respect and growth?

Johannesburg – Just days after his funeral, the shocked family of slain soccer star Senzo Meyiwa were presented with his secret love child, a son of about 3-months-old.
According to the Sunday Times, the family confirmed they had met the baby and his mother shortly after their son’s funeral. According to them, the baby was born shortly after the birth of Meyiwa’s daughter Thingo with girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.
Meyiwa also had a daughter with his wife, Mandisa Mkhize, and another daughter from a previous relationship.
The newspaper reports that Meyiwa’s father Sam has confirmed the baby’s existence and said he has been acknowledged by the Meyiwas.
According to Orlando Pirates chairperson Irvin Khoza, he had met with the Meyiwa family last week to discuss details of his former player’s finances and to establish whether the slain star had a will, to determine how many children he had and to establish the status of his relationship with his wife and his girlfriend.
Khoza said it was not a secret that the players have girlfriends in all the cities where the play away matches, be it Bloemfontein or Durban.

Sapa reported last week that the slain Bafana Bafana captain’s wife had confirmed that her husband was leaving her for singer and actress Kelly Khumalo.
Days before Meyiwa was killed Mkhize told City Press she had accepted she had lost him forever.
“I respect Senzo’s decision to be with Kelly Khumalo,” Mkhize reportedly said in an SMS when asked if she felt betrayed after Meyiwa told her he and Khumalo had broken up.
“We did not end things on a sour note. He is the father of my daughter and despite all he is not a bad person.
“I wish him well; I am at peace with everything,” she said.
In April, Meyiwa and Mkhize featured on the cover of Drum magazine, and spoke of their love for each other. The two said during an interview that they were working on their marriage and that Meyiwa had ended his relationship with Khumalo.
When Mkhize discovered her husband was back with Khumalo she moved out of their flat in Buccleuch, Johannesburg.
Meyiwa was shot dead on 26 October, in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, while visiting Khumalo. Two men allegedly entered the house, demanded cellphones, and shot him before fleeing.
Shortly after the killing, Khumalo told the Sunday Times Meyiwa planned to divorce Mkhize and marry her.
“I have never been loved by anyone the way Senzo loved me. He was willing to do anything for me… His heart was with me,” she told the newspaper.

Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa was posthumously nominated for African Player of the Year based in Africa on Friday.
Meyiwa, shot dead in Vosloorus on October 26, was one of 20 names nominated for African Player of the Year for those who play in Africa.
The 27-year-old made an incredible 51 out of a possible 53 appearances for Pirates during the 2013/14 season.

Hip-hop muso Khuli Chana is taking the cops on in a R2,3 million lawsuit claim which is set to see the musician attempt to get the police to acknowledge their mistakes and pay.
According to a parliamentary response issued by minister Nathi Mthethwa, R7 billion in lawsuit claims have been brought against the police ministry.
This was for the 2011/12 financial year, in the 2012/13 financial year, the cops had to fork out R200 million in claims for 3773 cases.
It is a strong indication of the amount of lawsuits the police ministry faces. Artist Khuli Chana, real name Khulane Morule has now joined the queue of thousands of people seeking financial compensation for shootings, unlawful arrests, physical assault and damage to property by the police.

NCOP chair Thandi Modise on Sunday declined to discuss a report that she would meet police to discuss the discovery, earlier this year, of dead and starving animals on her North West farm.
“I don’t want to comment,” Modise said when asked about the Sunday Times reporting that a meeting with police had been scheduled for next week.
The newspaper quoted North West police spokesman Brigadier Thulani Ngubane as saying the National Council of Provinces chairwoman had been “co-operating with us from day one”.
He said a meeting planned for July had been postponed, but that police understood “the nature of her work and business”.
In July this year, police and NSPCA inspectors found more than 100 dead animals, including sheep, geese, goats and ducks, on her farm. It appeared they had been without food or water for over a week.
About 85 pigs, who were still alive, had begun cannibalising 58 dead pigs, and were reportedly drinking their own urine. Many others found alive had to be put down.
There were no farmworkers on the property, no electricity, and the water pumps were broken.
On Sunday, Ngubane said while police were still awaiting Modise’s version of events, others involved in the matter had already been providing statements. Modise had reportedly told police she would travel to Potchefstroom to meet them.
The National Prosecuting Authority told the Sunday Times it had not received a docket, indicating whether Modise would be prosecuted.
On Friday the NSPCA said conditions on the farm had improved.
“Cattle on the farm have been supplied with sufficient food and appear to be in an acceptable condition,” spokeswoman Grace de Lange said in a statement.
She said farm managers were implementing advice from vets on how to run the farm.

Cape Town – The EFF has threatened court action should the National Assembly approve a recommendation by Parliament’s powers and privileges committee to suspend 12 of its MPs without pay.
“We are not shocked, they reached the conclusion that they have because, as we said, there was a clear mandate from Luthuli House [ANC headquarters] that the EFF must be dealt with in the harshest possible terms,” EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said on Friday.
“We will meet them in the National Assembly when they make those recommendations and object to it, failing which we’ll approach a court,” he said.
The committee will adopt its final report on Monday, and submit it to the National Assembly for approval.
The committee recommended earlier on Friday that Ndlozi, EFF leader Julius Malema, chief whip Floyd Shivambu, Mpho Ramakatsa, Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala, and Godrich Gardee be suspended for 30 days without pay.
Malema was found guilty on four charges of contempt of Parliament.
Shivambu and Ramakatsa were convicted on seven charges each.
The second group of MPs, consisting of Elsabe Louw, Ngwanamakwetle Mashabela, Nthako Matiase, Hlengiwe Maxon, Magdalene Moonsamy, and Andile Mngxitama, who were found guilty on two charges each of contempt of Parliament, also face suspension without pay, but for a shorter period.
“The committee resolved to recommend that they be suspended for 14 days without remuneration,” said committee chairman Lemias Mashile.
Another eight EFF MPs, who were only found guilty of one charge each, could get off with lighter penalties.
“The committee resolved to recommend that these members should apologise to Parliament verbally in the manner determined by the House,” Mashile said.
The disciplinary process arose from the EFF’s disruption of the National Assembly during President Jacob Zuma’s question time on 21 August.
They were unhappy with Zuma’s replies to questions about his private home in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, where R246m of taxpayers’ money had been spent on upgrades, and chanted “pay back the money” at him.
Recommendations
The recommendations were pushed through by the ANC majority on the committee, following objections from opposition parties, including the DA.
“We would have liked to see, under the circumstances, a reprimand because some of the [EFF] members did not obey the Speaker when, for example, she asked them to sit down. We can’t contest that,” said DA MP Annelie Lotriet.
“Given the circumstances and factors that led up to the whole debacle on the day, I think a reprimand should have sufficed,” Lotriet said.
The minority views will be included in the committee’s final report.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Mashile said he thought the process was fair.
“All the people that were supposed to be here have been given the opportunity to be here. Those that were not here, they were not chased [away] by anybody,” he said.
“It is a fair process because an opportunity for people to make their inputs and views was there without any hindrance.” The EFF MPs decided to boycott the process from the start and did not make any representations in their defence.
The ANC chief whip’s office rejected the EFF’s claim that the committee was a one-party affair.
“There was full participation of all parties represented in the committee throughout the hearing, including agreement on some of the sanctions,” spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said in a statement. The party was confident the punishment to be decided next week would help restore the integrity and decorum of Parliament and guard against anarchy.

Lichtenburg- A middle aged police officer died on the scene of accident and one survived with critical injuries when the driver lost control on the R503 road between Mahikeng and Lichtenburg yesterday.
It is reported that the police officers who were driving a Toyota Hilux Double Cab lost control while trying to overtake a truck. According to Traffic Authorities at the scene, the driver realized that there was an oncoming vehicle ahead which allegedly caused him to lose control. The driver survived with critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital by the emergency services.
North West Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Gaoage Molapisi said the South African Government is losing assets due to road accidents. “We continue to lose officials on these roads due to reckless driving. Our motorists need to be observant, cautious and always adhere to road rules,” said Molapisi.
MEC said the accident happened just a day before the official launch of Arrive Alive and Operation When Duty Calls and that is very unfortunate.
