Motsumi encourages Grade 12 learners at Charora Secondary School to work hard ahead of NSC final examinations

19 October 2025- The North West MEC for Education Viola Motsumi visited Charora Secondary School in Luka village, near Rustenburg to motivate both parents and Grade 12 learners on 18 October 2025, as part of the Last Push campaign before the National Senior Certificate (NSC) final examinations. Motsumi said the visit followed the poor performance of Charora Secondary School in the third‑quarter matric results, wherein they obtained 63.5 %.

She further said the school has a total number of 159 Grade 12 learners, and 59 learners failed in the third quarter. Motsumi added that parents and teachers committed to helping learners during this period of the final examinations.

“During the Pledge Signing, parents played an important part in the commitment. We plead with parents to release learners to attend the incubation camps. I am extremely pleased to see a large number of parents who have responded to a call on Saturday morning. This action shows that parents of this school have a keen interest in education.

“In the last quarter we have observed that when learners were writing their examination being hosted in the incubation camp, they passed their exams. When they write exams being home they are defocused and many learners fail. I am appealing with your good selves to bring learners to the incubation camps,” she said.

Motsumi said teachers are available at the camps to assist learners and they are still hopeful that results could improve. She made Grade 12 learners aware that any learner who will be found to have contravened the examination rules will be banned for a period of 3 years.

Meanwhile, Mapule Khunou, a mother of the Grade 12 learner, highlighted that as parents, they never had education, but they are willing to assist their children.
