22 September 2025- Ratlou Local Municipality said it held a successful District Thuntsha Lerole Phase 5 event on Friday. The municipality said the campaign was aimed to address service delivery challenges and improve rural livelihood of the community of Madibogo.
The Ratlou Local Municipality mayor, Matlhomola Jafta said accelerated service delivery programme, which brings government departments and state-owned entities together, provided direct services and conducted exhibitions on various products and services. Jafta further said the event was wrapped up by a community feedback session, wherein various departments gave a comprehensive report of services rendered and challenges encountered during the event.

“The feedback session was led by me and the Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs), who were also part of the government leaders present. Following a coordinated effort by the municipality and Roads and Public Works, several internal gravel roads were bladed and potholes on two main roads were also patched.
“Meanwhile, 50 learners from two primary schools received school shoes from Jafta. He also distributed mattress, blankets, kitchen utensils including two plates stoves, cooking pots, plates and water bowls to community members, who were affected by disasters in the past. By courtesy of the Red Cross Society of South Africa, beneficiaries also received R2500 per household,” he added.
During the feedback session, Jafta applauded community members for using the session to raise service delivery related challenges. He said the session serves as a platform for departments to directly respond to community needs and service delivery challenges.
“The programme fosters collaboration and enables the government to work directly with communities to address their issues and therefore the community must always use such opportunities when afforded. We urged the departments to up their game during the next Thuntsha Lerole events,” said Jafta.
