18 March 2024- Four suspects were arrested for dealing in mandrax, Tik and dagga amounting to R27 000 and two suspects for possession of suspected stolen property amounting to R1722. The suspects were arrested after the ZFM District Task Team conducted Operation Shanela duties in the Postmasburg area addressing stubborn crimes by increased visibility, raiding of illicit drugs, and illegal liquor outlets.
The ZF Mgcawu District police spokesperson, Sergeant Omphile Masegela said during the operation on 17 March 2025, the police searched five premises and 45 persons as part of the crime prevention method and weapon free campaign. Masegela said the police also confiscated dangerous weapons, which may lead to contact crimes, including assaults, murder and rape.
“The police continue with intensified efforts to reduce crime and create a conducive and safe environment for all inhabitants,” he said.
