Three suspects are expected to appear before Ganyesa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly poisoning 44 cattle and attempted murder. According to the North West police spokesperson, Brig Sabata Mokgwabone, the suspects were arrested on 14 December 2023 for separate cases of attempted murder and malicious damage to property.

He said this comes after a dedicated team was established to investigate a number of cases, including the alleged poisoning of 44 cattle.

“One of the suspects aged 37 was arrested for three counts of attempted murder after he allegedly shot at three men at Botsalano Section in Morokweng village on 27 October 2023. The police seized an air rifle, two cell phones and two vehicles during the arrest.

“The suspect was further linked with a case of malicious damage to property in which he and two other men aged 35 and 39, allegedly smashed a private security company’s vehicle windscreen,” said Mokgwabone.

He further said the incident occurred in Boshoek, near Ganyesa at about 00:45 on 13 October 2023. Mokgwabone added that all three suspects are expected to appear before the Ganyesa Magistrate’s Court on 18 December 2023.

Investigations into the matter and other cases including the alleged poisoning of cattle are still underway.

Meanwhile, North West Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, applauded the police for their diligence in ensuring that the suspects are arrested and face the full might of the law.
