The beleaguered Lekwa-Temane Local Municipality speaker, Mpho Pilane (38) is allegedly facing another rape case of a minor. According to the North West police spokesperson, Brig Sabata Mokgwabone, a girl (16) has opened a rape case against Pilane at Christiana Police Station.
Mokgwabone said the alleged incident took place in 2019.
“We can confirm that the case in question has been opened for investigation. The incident allegedly took place in 2019. Reports suggest that, the victim was 16 years old at the time of the incident.
“No arrest has been effected and investigations into the matter continue. There is no indication that, the case is related to the previous one,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pilane who was the mayor at the time, was arrested for allegedly raping, abducting, and sexually assaulting two teenage girls aged 15 and 16 from Christiana on 8 December 2020 in a separate matter. He allegedly took them to a lodge in Delareyville, where the alleged crime took place.
