The drugs estimated to the value of R52 000 were allegedly found in a minibus taxi during a stop and search in Upington on Wednesday. The ZF Mgcawu District police spokesperson, Sergeant Omphile Masegela said 527 bundles of CAT were discovered after the police received a tip-off.
“Two men aged 51 and 38 were arrested for dealing in drugs. Another tip-off was received that drugs are allegedly being sold at a residence in Rosedale. The police conducted a raid at the said residence.
“Upon search, they discovered mandrax to the value of R 11 925.00, tik to the value of R 2 700.00, and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of drugs was seized,” he said.
Masegela said a suspect aged 43 was arrested for dealing in drugs. He said all three suspects will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, the management in the ZFM District commended the teamwork of members from Upington Border Police, Upington K9, Upington POP, and ZFM Vispol, which produced successful results.
