Dagga worth over R700 000 confiscated in Klerksdorp

TWO suspects aged 34 and 53 for were nabbed by The Hawks in North West for being in possession of dagga on Sunday.

The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso said they received information about a large stash of dagga nestled in a shack located approximately 15km outside of Klerksdorp at Doringhoek farm. 

“An intelligence driven operation was swiftly conducted and large bags of dagga valued to be worth approximately R744 000 were found. 

“The duo was arrested and will appear in Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday,” Rikhotso said.

The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Linda Mbana said: “We urge community members to continue to report crime.

“We also want warn criminals that there is no place for drugs in the province as they affect people’s lives.”

Four people injured on N12 car crash

Four people were left injured, while other two were critically after their vehicle rolled on the N12 near Klerksdorp on Saturday afternoon. 

ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene and found a light motor vehicle lying some distance off the.

“A man and woman were strewn on the road, while two others were found walking around on the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two had sustained critical injuries while two other patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“The patients were treated for their injuries and the two critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions,” Meiring said. 

He said patients were ferried to a nearby Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
