THREE men aged between 25 and 27 were arrested after they were linked to the theft of motorcycles in Kimberly. Northern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Olebogeng Tawana commended the Vehicle Identification Safe Guarding Unit for their sterling work.
“Three suspects were arrested at their residential addresses at Mallat Street, New Park, in Kimberley, Caravan Park, Beaconsfield, in Kimberley and Hadison Park in Kimberley. Two of the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, while the other suspect was arrest last week Friday.
“He was remanded in custody after appearing in Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
A 25 year-old suspect has been on the run and was on the list of wanted suspects. He was previously arrested and charged for theft of two motorcycles,” Tawana said.
He further said the investigation led to the arrest of a 26 year-old suspect after it was established that he was linked to the crime.
“Our preliminary investigation shows that the trio has been working together in the commission of the theft of motorcycles in Kimberley. We confiscated two motorcycles which were reported stolen after were found in possession of the suspects. All three suspects were charged and will be back in court on Friday,” he said.
Police Deputy Provincial Commissioner, Major General Kholiswa Otola applauded the members of the VIS unit in cracking down the nest of the suspects.
