Taung police are looking for Herbert Sibanda who escaped from lawful custody on Monday. North West police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said that the accused was facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition as well as robbery aggravating.

“He allegedly escaped while under escort and about to get inside police vehicle after appearing in court. Anyone with information that may lead to re-arrest of the accused can contact Detective Warrant Officer Phemelo on 082 469 0329,” Mokgwabone said.

A 27-year-old suspect from Modimong village, near Taung is at large after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death on Monday. North West police spokesperson, Lieutenant Col Pelonomi Makau said the suspect went to the girlfriend’s house and broke the window to gain entry.

“He entered the house and allegedly stabbed his girlfriend with a sharp object in her chest and on the back. The victim died on the scene. The suspect is still at large and police are appealing to anyone who can assist them with any information that could lead to his arrest to contact Warrant Officer Phemelo on 082 469 0329 or Taung Police Station on 053 994 9200,” Makau said.
