It is all systems go for North West Department of Social Development to observe International Day for Eradication of Poverty on Monday at Huhudi near Vryburg.
Social development MEC Fenny Gaolaolwe said 550 residents are expected to attend.
The theme for the observance of poverty eradication day is: “Moving from Humiliation and Exclusion to Participation:Ending Poverty in all its forms.”
Gaolaolwe said: “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty presents us with an opportunity as government and community leaders to reach out to poverty stricken households.”
As part of the activities of the day, Gaolaolwe said profiled households including residents from informal settlements will receive humanitarian assistance.
The observance of the day will also be coupled with Poverty eradication summit that is scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon and Tuesday in Vryburg.
Gaolaolwe said the summit will focus on intervention measures that will help the residents rid themselves out of the cycle of poverty.
