Schweizer man jailed for 10 years over theft

A 28 YEAR-OLD man was sentenced to ten years for house-breaking and another eight years for possession of explosives. The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Capt Tlangelani Rikhotso said Simon Moroke briefly appeared at Scweizer Reneke Regional Court on Wednesday.

“The accused was arrested after he allegedly entered the Morokane Agricultural Cooperative offices in Amalia through the roof. He blasted the safe with explosives and stole R40 000 from the safe.,” Rikhotso said.

She said the accused was also sentenced to eight years for possession of explosives and four years was suspended wholly.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks, Major Gen Linda Mbana lauded the investigating team. Mbana also warned that the Hawks will continue to be relentless when fighting crime in the province.
