ANOTHER suspect linked to Johannes Baatjies’ murder has been arrested. Northern Cape Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) spokesperson, Capt Philani Nkwalase said Tsame Frak Baxane, 31 was arrested on Wednesday in Danielskuil.
“He was arrested following his alleged involvement on the murder of Johannes Baatjies on August 17. Baxana appeared in Danielskuil Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The case was remanded to October 17,” Nkwalase said.
He added that Baxana is expected to appear along four other suspects who were previously arrested on the same murder case.
Nkwalase further said The Hawks distance itself from the media reports that imply that the ANC in Upington plotted the murder of Johannes Baatjies.
“Our Investigating Officer only put to the court the statements of the accused as recorded. Our on-going investigations on this particular case led to the arrest of only five suspects,” Nkwalase said.
He further said they cannot rule out any possibility of further arrests.
