The Northern Cape Hawks Commercial Crime Unit is appealing to the public to assist in locating Donivan Keith Davids. The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Capt Philani Nkwalase said it is believed that Davids will assist in unlocking the investigation on various fraud cases.

“A negotiated amount of money will be paid to any person who will come forward with reliable information. Numerous home owners deposited money to a law firm company called DD Legal Services for assistance with property transfer service. None of the services were rendered and all clients never received their money back,” Nkwalase said.

He said anyone who knows the whereabouts of Donivan Keith Davids should contact Constable Morakabi on 053-838 5551 or 071 481 3393 or alternatively contact LT Colonel Potelo on 053 838 5564 or 071 481 2827.

Rape accused teacher ‘must go’

BY REGINALD KANYANE

NORTH West provincial legislature’s Portfolio Committee on education said they were concerned about rape cases that have been reported to be taking place against learners especially at special schools.

Portfolio committee chairperson, Boitumelo Moiloa said they visited the Kwa-Mocha Primary School in Moretele area on Thursday where they were informed about alleged rape.

“We were shocked to hear that the teacher allegedly raped a six year-old girl back in 2014, but there is no progress regarding the case. The teacher is still teaching and he was not suspended nor investigated by department. We need to protect our children especially girl children because they are vulnerable.

“The teacher was allegedly found raping a six year-old girl who was in Grade R at the time. He was allegedly caught in the act by a female fellow teacher. The department did nothing about the matter while the child is suffering the consequences. We need thorough investigation in the matter and the teacher must be suspended pending the investigations,” Moiloa said.

The education and sport development head of department, Dr Itumeleng Molale said: “We have not received any matter like this before. However, we will make sure that the correct measures are followed. We will send our district director to the school and gather more details. Suspension against the teacher is imminent.”

The rape case was opened at Themba Police Station and investigations are still underway.

“Each time I come here I am abused” – President Zuma

Each time I come here I am abused‚” President Jacob Zuma said in the National Assembly on Tuesday afternoon‚ after his scheduled question and answer time session was again disrupted by the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters.

An exasperated sounding president said‚ “Instead of answering questions‚ I am called a criminal … a thief. This House has to do something.”

The red berets tried to stop Zuma was speaking on Tuesday and staged a walkout‚ saying they would not listen to him. This incident was close on four months after Zuma’s last appearance in the National Assembly on May 17‚ which was marred by the forceful removal of EFF MPs from the House‚ after they had also refused to be addressed by the president then.

Today‚ Zuma signalled that the heckling was difficult for him to sit through and he did not think it was fair to expect him to face people who were disrespecting the house of parliament.

“It is very difficult to me to do my constitutional duty‚” the president said.

“…If this house is not interested in me answering questions‚ then don’t call me.”

‘ANC councillor chased away in Taung’

tokwe

BY REGINALD KANYANE

ANC Regional coordinator, Pontsho Kgosieng said they will meet on Thursday to tackle issues raised by Choseng community. Kgosieng said they have received appalling reports from Choseng community after they chased their ward councillor, Lopang Tokwe out of the village on Tuesday.

The community said they do not want Tokwe as their councillor. One of Choseng community leaders, Sinah Letlhogela said: “We do not want Tokwe as our councillor. We elected Peter Moetsi as our councillor, but ANC plotted his downfall. This resulted in Moetsi losing against Tokwe during recent local government elections that took place in August 3.

“We conjecture why all councillors come from Matlapaneng village though? This is the fourth consecutive councillor coming out of Matlapaneng village. We want to know if we do not have proficient and competent people from our village who could become councillors,” Letlhogela lamented.

Letlhogela added that if they do not get satisfactory responses from the ANC PEC in Dr Ruth Mompati Region, they will embark on a protest and barricade N18 road between Taung and Vryburg.

However, Kgosieng said that political knowledge is needed.

“We need to educate our people how politics work. They have raised various issues and we will address them. However, we request tranquility in the area. Our people need to accept the outcome of the local government elections. Even though they do not approve the winner, according to chapter 7, the ward was won by ANC and we are expected to provide basic service delivery to the area,” he said.

Kgosieng said some of opposition parties might impel the community to fight the ANC councillor just to hinder the developments in the area.

ZUMA HAS PAID BACK THE MONEY

jacob

Treasury has confirmed that President Jacob Zuma has paid back the R7,8m he owed for upgrades to his private home in Nkandla, it has been reported.

A panel of six experts from two quantity surveyor firms helped the National Treasury determine how much Zuma had to pay for the upgrades. Treasury had recommended Zuma pay R7.81 million rand for non-security-related features, including R2.3m for the so-called swimming pool, R1m for the amphitheatre and R1.2m for the cattle kraal.

The Constitutional Court ruled in March that Zuma had violated the constitution by not abiding by the Public Protector’s recommendation that he should pay some of the money spent on the residence.
