CAPE TOWN – The Right2know campaign has called on the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Absa bank to stop advertising with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) until Hlaudi Motsoeneng is permanently removed.
The non-governmental organisation has launched nationwide protests after it was announced yesterday that Motsoeneng has been re-appointed to the position of group executive of corporate affairs.
The courts have ruled his permanent appointment as COO must be set aside.
Around 100 supporters earlier joined a Cape Town protest.
The Right2Know Campaign’s Vainola Makan says the SABC lacks integrity.
“Let’s hit them where it hurts most and ask advertisers to stop advertising with them.”
Congress of the People (Cope)’s Farouk Cassim has joined the march and warns it’s just the beginning.
“If it starts to hurt the SABC in the back pocket, then very quickly we’re going to see change.”
