English Premier League outfit, Swansea City, are keen to try and land GAIS’ South African teenager, Luther Singh, following his fine form in Sweden.
The talented attacker, who turned 19 this month, has been a revelation in the Superettan since joining GAIS last year, and has scored nine goals in 23 starts for the club so far.
After the player himself confirmed interest in him from Real Madrid’s Castilla team, the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Swansea have seen some potential in his ability, and have already contacted his agent, Nadim Mahmood.
Farouk Khan, who helped developed Singh at the Stars of Africa Academy, told the crew, “There’s been talk of Swansea, yeah. They have contacted Luther’s agent, Nadim, but it’s just conversations for the time being. They are serious about getting him, but he only has a couple of months left on his contract and he’d struggle to get a permit in the UK right now.”
Singh’s contract with GAIS expires at the end of November, and he is therefore able to discuss precontracts with any interested parties, with clubs more likely to take a chance on him as a free agent rather than as a paid transfer.
However, with South Africa’s current FIFA ranking it would prove difficult for Singh to acquire a work permit in the UK, meaning that if Swansea were to sign him then they would have to loan him out rather than keep him at the club. |
