MORE than twenty people embarked on women and children abuse awareness campaign. The participants walked from Johannesburg to Mahikeng and spent six days on the road in the process.
Kay2 Zee Gee Tour owner, Kagiso Legobe said they organised the campaign to raise funds and convey a message. He said the left Johannesburg last week on Thursday. Legobe said the main objective was to celebrate women’s month through awareness.
“Women play a significant role within our society. We wanted to convey our message and intensify a fight against women and children abuse. Celebrating Women’s Month is an opportunity to appreciate the remarkable contribution of women to our society.
“We wanted to raise funds for our non-profit organisations like Kopano project and TM Charity Foundation Organisation in Lomanyane village, Mahikeng. The organisation addresses socio-economic issues affecting the youth like crime, poverty, inequality, unemployment, drug and alcohol abuse,” Legobe said.
He said they were well-received and other stakeholders came on board.
“We walked for over 300km and spent six days on the road. We also want to send our gratitude to those sponsors who came on board like SAB. Their contributions will not go unnoticed. We were also joined by Ditsamaya Naga Biker’s team.
“That showed that teamwork is key. Working together, we can go far. We also urge other stakeholders to come on board and assist in improving the lives of our people,” Legobe said.
TM Charity Foundation organisation founder, Thato Molosankwe said women conjure up a lot of images. He added that women bring out varied emotions as selfless love, nurturing and caring attitude.
“Women have power to create, nurture and transform. Understanding a woman is a mystery and it needs lots of perseverance and knowledge. A woman is the epitome of love, sacrifice, care and ability to nurture life.
“The qualities of women need to be understood. They continue to nurture lives of many and they are the most powerful and strongest being. Women can play different roles with ease. We also need to teach society how to treat women well and we could become a better nation,” Molosankwe said.
Molosankwe said they will continue to raise funds to address many issues to assist the society.
