ANC has showed us the middle finger – Malema

Pretoria  Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema, said South Africans had honoured the ANC enough for liberating the country, and it was time to move on.

“We have honoured the ANC for past two decades,” Malema told residents of Ebony Park near Midrand on Sunday.

“We said thank for going to exile and spending time on Robben Island. They never thanked us in return. They showed us the middle finger.”

Malema said the party was supposed to thank the country by removing President Jacob Zuma from office following the Constitutional Court ruling that found he had violated his oath of office.

“How do you not remove Zuma after all this mess? What did [former President Thabo] Mbeki do that Zuma hasn’t done? When Zuma says ‘sorry’ we must accept?”

Malema told the crowd their children had criminal records for stealing braai packs and that would result in them never working for government. He asked why Zuma should remain in office after he had committed a crime.

“He says he is sorry and we must accept as if there is a law for Zuma and your children. No. We are all equal before the law and we must be treated the same,” said Malema.

Potchefstroom – Four North West traffic officers were arrested on Friday for alleged bribery and corruption, traffic authorities said.

Members of the national anti-corruption unit and Hawks arrested them at their office in Potchefstroom following months of investigation, Road Traffic Management Corporation spokesperson Simon Zwane said. More arrests were expected, as part of efforts to clean up the traffic department’s image.

More than 30 traffic officers had been arrested since last year on allegations of bribery, fraud, and corruption.

The four are expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
