MMAKAU- A 28-YEAR-OLD man is expected to appear in Garankuwa Magistrate’s Court for being in possession of unlicensed firearm.

Police arrested him at Newtown Section, near Klipgat on Friday.

North West police spokesperson, Col Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspect and his accomplice were fugitive.

“The suspects allegedly attempted to hijack a Toyota Venture earlier. However they managed to evade the police.

Police received a tip-off after the suspects allegedly strike again. They attempted to hijack a taxi minibus, but police pounced on them.

The suspects attempted to escape when they saw the police.

“One of the suspects ran into a nearby house. Police found him hiding under the bed, and he was arrested.  He was allegedly found to be in possession of 9mm Vektor pistol of which the serial number was filed-off.

“He is expected to appear in the Ga-rankuwa Magistrates’ Court soon. Police are still looking for the second suspects,” he said.
