DA student wing considers crimal charges against ANCYL’s Maine

image

The Democratic Alliance Students Organisation (Daso) is considering laying criminal charges against African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) president Collen Maine for his threats.

This follows the Congress of the People earlier on Monday saying it is consulting “its legal team to formulate a possible charge of incitement” against Maine.

The DA said it “condemns the disturbing comments” made by Maine on Sunday and would refer this matter to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) “for its consideration for remarks that we contend rise to the level of inciting violence”.

“Maine‚ in his reckless statements‚ threatened civil war against those who undermine ANC leadership‚ particularly President (Jacob) Zuma in the build-up to the State of the Nation Address (Sona) this week‚” said Daso’s interim leader Yusuf Cassim.

Dj Thabo Tbo Touch Molefe may have thrown himself under the bus by allowing his emotions to interfere with his work.

This was after he gave red hot rapper Cassper Nyovest the cold shoulder on his show.

On Monday. Cassper was scheduled for an interview on the show as part of the SABC’s promotion of the Metro FM Awards taking place later this month.

The initial arrangement was that Cassper would do the interview at the Metro FM studios in Auckland Park.
But the rapper, saying he couldn’t make it to the studio, later asked that the interview be done over the phone.

Chiefs edge five-goal thriller

image

Kaizer Chiefs struck in stoppage time to hand Maritzburg United a 3-2 defeat in their Absa Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

The home side were off to the perfect start when Camaldine Abraw was tripped in the penalty area by Maritzburg goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede while trying to go around him one-on-one in the fourth minute.

Willard Katsande stepped up and got enough power behind the penalty to beat Verbauwhede despite him getting a hand on it.

The Team of Choice created a few opportunities in a slow-tempo and rather dull first half but could not make the most of them, and Abraw added a second goal for Chiefs in the 37th minute with a solid header into the far corner from George Lebese’s left-wing cross.
