THE NORTH West public works met with Taung residents over D221 road.
The meeting between Maphoitsile, Manokwane and Magogong village residents with the department of public works did not yield any fruition on Monday.
Acting Head of Department(HoD) for Public Works, Vuyo Mbulwana said: “We sent our district managers to meet with the D221 road residents. I have not received any fit back and I will inform you after gathering all details.”
The D221 road that was supposed to be compacted back in 2012, was abandoned by the department after they alleged that there was no enough funds in their coffer.
The contractor was appointed three years ago, but had to take the matter via legal route after the department tried to removed it and appointed another contractor.
The community of Manokwane went on rampage and burnt three houses in public protests in 2012.

Community leader, Peter Seokwang said that they could not get answers from the representatives.
“We could not get answers from them, so we sent them packing. We want to hear it from MEC Madoda Sambatha. We want to know when the contractor will be on site to commence with road construction,” he said.
