MORE 33 000 learners sat for their National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations across the country and the North West province reported no mishaps.
North West Province registered 33 844 candidates for NSC who wrote their first papers in English Home language, English first additional language, Consumer studies and Hospitality studies on Monday.
MEC for Education and Sport Development in the North West, Wendy Matsemela visited three examination centres in Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district. Matsemela visited Kgosietsile Lethola Secondary and P.H. Moeketsi Secondary schools in Taung as well Noto Secondary School in Kopela village.
P.H Moeketsi secondary school had two examination centres which housed candidates from Bogosi Secondary after threats by community members to disrupt schooling and examinations due to service delivery demands.
Learners wrote all three papers without any irregularities. Explaining her visit, Matsemela says “The most important thing for visiting schools is to monitor that candidates uphold the integrity of examinations and that they abide by the pledge on the code of conduct. So far the examinations have gone smoothly and we wish them all the best,” Matsemela said.

Candidates are expected to write Accounting on Tuesday.
