Potchefstroom – A 20-year-old man is behind bars for allegedly murdering his mother in the early hours of Friday morning at Ramogodi section in Mmakau village, North West police said on Sunday.

“It is alleged that the suspect had an argument with his mother, Suzan Malebye, 55, and strangled her with his hands until she died,” Sergeant Kealeboga Molale said in a statement.

Police arrested the suspect at his home and he would appear in the Ga-rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder.

The investigation into the matter was continuing, Molale said.
