NORTH West-born choreographer Tebogo Kgobokoe said that she was ready to impart her knowledge to the young and aspiring dancers. A 40 year-old award-winning dancer has won numerous prestigious awards and participated in various countries abroad.
‘The Queen of Dance’ as Tebogo is affectionately known to her followers said that she had taught dance for over sixteen years and devoted most of her time to the development of dance and sport in rural areas across South Africa.
“I started my teaching at the Mmabana Cultural Centre in Mmabatho, in the North West province where I later became a choreographer and development officer. I also took part in competitions locally and internationally representing South Africa. I specialised in contemporary, ballet, Spanish, modern dance, freestyle, Rock n Roll, Latin American and ballroom.” Kgobokoe said.
She said her pedigree helped her a lot in achieving her results.
“Consistent and conscientious commitment in the studio are unmatched for. It is with this tenacity that I raised the bar and created an opportunity for the youth through the founding of my newly-built academy. TKAA is the first academy of its kind. It is a dance education system with a strong base of excellent merit and uncompromising academic standards. We have achieved this through our partnership with the prestigious Mountain Cambridge School (MCS). This means that South African youth will get the privilege of both academic and dance education.
“It is widely known that the skills and competencies that one gains through a disciplined sport such as dance, contribute significantly towards excellence in all areas of life. But that is not all; I am presenting a lucrative opportunity for South Africans to create prosperous and meaningful lives through the combined study of the dance and academic fields. Yes, dance is viable and desirable career opportunity, not just only on the stage, but off the stage too.
“We believe that with a wide range of options including stage direction and management, marketing, business management, sponsorship, teaching we provide, we bound to achieve more. So 50 pupils will get that opportunity for 2016 academic year.” she added.
