THE African Baptism Apostolic Church of Christ congregants gathered at their newly-built church at Molelema village, in Taung on Saturday celebrating the opening of their church.
Bishop Mosesanyane Jacob Mongalane said: “I have been thinking seriously over years about the future of our church. We are living in a critical time like never before. We have never experienced what we experience in the history of humankind, and the church must respond to human’s deepest needs. We need to lay foundation for the next generation, so seeing our church finally being completed it was a breathtaking moment,” Mongalane said.
“We will continue to prepare young men and women to lead the church and play a critical part through the people’s lives. We experiencing socio-economic issues that are a burden and those issues need to be addressed. So let’s work together and we believe that our church will change the lives of the people spiritually too.”
“We want to thank God because it’s been decades since we were planning to build the church. Amongst the difficulties that we faced, was the passing of our Head Bishop. We also experienced financial difficulties, and we would also like to thank our youth at the church. Their supporting role was imperative. They built the church themselves and that showed courage.”
Ward councillor, Ebusang Tladi was among the guests, who attended the ceremony. Tladi said that he was grateful because of the changes and improvement the church will bring to the community.
“This initiative was a great move that will change the thinking ability of our people. The government also needs pastors and priests to participate in improving the lives of the people. Let’s come together and fight HIV and Aids, inequality, poverty and unemployment in our community. We need a strong society with good morality,” he said.
Pastor Setumo Mokoatsi also shared the same sentiments and said: “All leaders of churches, big or small, must recruit more young men and women to serve in diverse capacities in ministry. The responsibility of guiding the next wave of leaders weighs heavily on those in leadership positions now.
