A case against four accused who were arrested in connection of murder in Matsheng village, near Taung was postponed.
Two Chake brothers, Oratile (26) and Tshepo (28), and their two accomplices Ogodiseng Matlhola (24) and Thebeitsile Sege (24) briefly appeared in Taung Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The four are accused of killing a 28-year-old Bangladeshi business man three weeks ago.
Two Chauke brothers and Sege were arrested on 27 July 2015 and made their first appearance on Thursday, 30 July 2015. Matlhola was arrested on Friday, 31 July 2015 after further investigations linked him to the incident.
The four allegedly broke the wall of the victim’s shop and stabbed him with a sharp object while he was asleep. The attack happened on Thursday, 23 July 2015 at Matsheng Village in Taung.
A substantial amount of money and groceries valued at thousands were stolen.
The community of Taung gave police information which led to the arrest of the four and police recovered some money, groceries and keys of the shop during the arrest.
The four are expected to re-appear in the same court on 17 August 2015. They remain in custody.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the North West police Major General Jacob Tsumane applauded the community for working with the police. “I want to assure you that this case will receive the necessary attention” said the Acting Provincial Commissioner.
