Government trained Emergency Care Technicians to graduate from North West EMRS College

BY PHEMELO MOHUTSIWA
The North-West EMRS College will be hosting the Emergency Care Technicians (ECT) formal Graduations ceremony on Thursday.

A total of 33 ECTs will be graduating and the group comprises of in-service personnel as well as school leavers who were offered a bursary by the Department of Health.

“At the moment the graduates have already been registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and are now licensed to practise,” Lekgethwane said.

These graduates will be the last to complete the ECT NQF level 05 qualification.

North West Health department spokesperson Tebogo Lekgethwane said The National Emergency Care, Education and Training policy provides for a new three tier system of Emergency Care Qualification to be introduced in 2016.

“This means the new ECT qualification has been upgraded to NQF level 06. However, this new development will not in any way affect the graduates negatively as they will still be able to progress with further studies within the same field of Emergency Medical Care,” he said.

The MEC for Health in the province, Dr. Magome Masike and other dignitaries will grace the occasion.

The formal graduation ceremony will be held as follows:
