NORTH West Education and Sport Development MEC Wendy Maphefo Matsemela will welcome newly-elected School Governing Body in Mahikeng on Friday.
North West departmental spokesperson Elias Malindi said the inauguration will take place at Mmabatho Convention Centre.
“MEC for Education and Sport Development Wendy Matsemela will welcome newly-elected SGB,” Malindi said.
The event will starts at 08:30.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a motor vehicle and heavy goods vehicle were involved in a crash.
“Upon assessment of the occupants, paramedics found that a fifty-year-old woman sustained minor to moderate injuries during the crash,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.
The injured woman was treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events are the subject of a police investigation

Four people have died during a shooting incident on First Avenue in The Hill, Johannesburg.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that four men lost their lives during the shooting incident.
“There was nothing further that could be done for the men and they were declared dead at the scene,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the shooting incident and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation and for police comment.

PIETERMARITZBURG – An African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament (MP) has told a Parliamentary ad hoc committee looking into the Nkandla spending debacle that at least R135 million was not part of the president’s Security Bill.
Vincent Smith made the comment during the committee’s deliberations about an in-loco inspection of Jacob Zuma’s private home in KwaZulu-Natal.
The committee was also shown the 21 houses that had been built for security personnel, as well as a clinic on the outskirts of Zuma’s estate at the cost of R135 million.
Smith says the homes are not part of the president’s homestead.

JOHANNEBSURG – Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has condemned the disruption of schooling in Soweto and Mamelodi by members of the Congress of South African Students (Cosas).
Cosas disrupted classes in these areas this morning and forcibly removed pupils to join their march to the basic education head offices in Tshwane.
The department’s Phumla Sekhonyane says this goes against an agreement between Cosas leadership and the MEC.

Pretoria – A total of 95 158 whites have left South Africa since 2011, according to a new Statistics SA report released on Thursday.
According to the 2015 mid-year population estimates, in the same period 1 067 937 Africans and 40 929 Asians migrated to South Africa.
The figures took into account total departures and total arrivals over the period.

A 33-year-old woman from Taung Extension 6 was left dejected after criminals made a meal out of her house belongings. Margaret Molotsi (33) who stays alone at Taung Extension 6 said she left her house almost a month ago to attend a funeral of one of her relatives, and received unholy news that there was a break-in in her house. “The incident took place on the 16th of June 2015 where I left my house key with my neighbor while attending funeral. “I normal leave the key with them, but on that mentioned date, I received the disturbing news that left me aggravated. I lost plasma TV, tupperwares, tea bags, clothes and my toiletries,” she said. According to Molotsi, there was no sign of forceful break-in and she suspects that someone she knows might be involved. “I always leave my key with my neighbor and did not experience this, but what left me thinking was that there was no forceful break-in. According to police investigations, the door was swiftly opened without any alterations,” said Molotsi. She believes that the suspect/s who stole her items might have used her key to gain access. “I went to the police to open a house-breaking case and now police drag their feet in investigating the matter. They need to take few people for questioning, but that never happened,” she said. Bloemfontein – Six young men are expected to appear in the Magistrate’s Court in Qwaqwa, Free State, after being arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with the abduction and rape of a 17-year-old girl in Moboshoane.
Sergeant Mmako Mophiring told News24 the girl and her guardian were at home in the Mangaung village when someone knocked on the door.
