A count down to the inaugural Bokone Bophirima Maize Triangle Challenge

By Obakeng Maje
With less than a week left before staging of the much awaited Bokone Bophirima Maize Triangle Challenge, the Provincial Government says it is bracing itself for an influx of about 20 000 soccer fans for Saturday’s soccer tournament, which has attracted huge interest from not only around Bokone Bophirima, Free State and Mpumalanga Provinces, but from the neighbouring Botswana as well.

Bokone Bophirima Maize Triangle Challenge is a one-day soccer tournament which the Provincial Government initiated as part of the bigger vision to rebrand, reposition and renew the province.

This tournament will be hosted at Moruleng Stadium on the 11th of July 2015.

It is anticipated that Bokone Bophirima Maize Triangle Challenge will not just be a preeminent soccer event of its kind, but an activity that will boost the development of Small Medium Micro Enterprise.

“To ensure that local SMMEs participate and benefit from the hosting of this tournament, the Local Organising Committee has invited all SMMEs to attend a briefing and registration session that is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday this week”, explained Brian Setswambung, the Acting Provincial Spokesperson, who urged vendors who wish to market and sell their products during the tournament to attend this important session.

The briefing sessions will be held at Moruleng Stadium, from 09h00 until 13h00 during these two days.

MTN’s CEO resigns

JOHANNESBURG – MTN has announced the resignation of CEO Ahmad Farroukh, the mobile phone service provider said on Monday.

Farroukh, who took up the post last year, will leave the company by the end of the month, MTN Group CEO Sifiso Dabengwa said in a statement circulated to the company’s staff.

“This was a difficult decision to take for Ahmad, but unavoidable due to personal and family reasons,” said Dabengwa.
